BEDFORD HEIGHTS

Though the city of Bedford Heights, Ohio was founded in 1951, it was originally part of the neighboring city of Bedford. The history of the area dates back to pre-1800. This Cleveland suburb began as a small village and has grown to around 11,000 residents while maintaining its small-town atmosphere. The city government is managed by a Mayor and City Council, and the city provides full-time fire and police services. The Bedford City School District provides public education. Bedford Heights is an easy commute to and from Cleveland and Akron while providing the convenience of suburban living.

The city’s Community Center provides a wide array of recreational and health services and serves as a popular community gathering spot where the whole family can find opportunities for exercise, competition, and relaxation. The center has an indoor swimming pool, whirlpool and sauna, fitness and weight rooms, and an indoor track. The facility also has a game room, indoor basketball court, and racquetball courts, and maintains outdoor basketball courts, a full playground, and baseball fields. You can register for fitness classes as well as competitive and rec leagues. Bedford Heights also maintains two outdoor parks and an outdoor swimming pool.

Motorcycle enthusiasts from around the northeast Ohio region flock to the “Bedford Heights Motorcycle Mile,” which is anchored by Southeast Harley-Davidson and a variety of other local dealers and motorcycle-related businesses. The motorcycle mile is also home to South East Gears & Cheers, a favorite hangout of cyclists and motorsports fans. The nearby WhirlyBall center offers laser tag, bowling, virtual reality games, and plenty of room for family or corporate gatherings.

Bedford Heights has a wide selection of outstanding restaurants and casual entertainment choices. Try the Winking Lizard Tavern, a Cleveland area favorite, for a wide selection of great pizza, wings, and pub food. Their Tour of Beers makes for a fun trip around the world of draft and bottle adventures. Tang’s Wok has long been known for fresh and plentiful Chinese cuisine. Zeppe’s Tavern is another local mainstay for original and authentic Italian pizza and friendly fellowship harkening back to Bedford Heights’ beginnings.  Scorchers is a friendly and well-known spot to catch the big game or enjoy indoor sports along with great food, sports bar fun, billiards, darts, and more. Bedford Heights truly provides the fun and amenities found in a small community close to everything the big city offers.
